Responsibilities:
- Safely operate and drive various types of trucks (such as tractor-trailers, flatbeds, or tankers) to transport goods over short or long distances.
- Load and unload cargo, following proper loading procedures and ensuring secure placement and balance of the freight.
- Plan routes and schedules to meet delivery deadlines, considering traffic, weather conditions, and vehicle performance.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, ensuring roadworthiness, proper maintenance, and compliance with safety standards.
- Follow traffic laws, regulations, and DOT guidelines while operating the vehicle and transporting cargo.
- Communicate with dispatchers, customers, and colleagues to coordinate deliveries, provide updates on delivery status, and address any issues or concerns.
- Maintain accurate logs, records, and documentation related to trips, mileage, fuel consumption, and vehicle maintenance.
- Report any mechanical issues, accidents, or incidents promptly and follow proper protocols.
Requirements:
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience as a truck driver or in a similar role, preferably with long-haul or regional driving experience.
- Knowledge of truck driving rules and regulations, safety protocols, and DOT compliance.
- Ability to handle and operate different types of trucks and their features, including manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Physical stamina and strength to load and unload cargo, as well as the ability to spend long hours on the road.
